Magnesium aluminosilicate is commonly known as cordierite chemical formula: magnesium aluminosilicate (Mg2Al4Si5O18). The color of cordierite is very similar to the sapphire produced in Burma and because it often contains water, it is also called aquamarine. It has the color and luster of sapphire and is much cheaper than sapphire. Therefore, it is more nicknamed the sapphire of the poor. The energy of cordierite is quite stable and it cannot be changed by heating. It is a genuine gem. Cordierite is mainly used in ceramic billets and glazes.

Function
