Acetamide is an amide derived from acetic acid. The pure product is a white crystalline solid at room temperature and can be obtained by dehydration of ammonium acetate. It is used as a plasticizer and an important raw material for organic synthesis. Acetamide is not very flammable, but it emits irritating fumes when burned. Inhalation, ingestion, skin and eye contact are toxic, and skin and eye contact may cause redness or pain.

1. Molten acetamide is an excellent solvent for various organic and inorganic substances. It can be used as a solubilizing agent when some substances having low water solubility are dissolved in water, such as a solvent and a solubilizer used as a dye in the fiber industry. It is also widely used as a stabilizer for plasticizers, an antacid for the cosmetic industry, a wetting agent for the paper industry, and a solvent for the synthesis of antibiotics such as chloramphenicol.
2. Used as analytical reagents, solvents, stabilizers, plasticizers. It can also be used in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical industry, dye preparation. 3. Also used in the manufacture of moisture absorbents, lubricants, etc.
